The B.15:45 exhibition is a retrospective look at the last 45 years of modelmaking in Architectural education and showcases decades of work by former students.
Modelmaking has always been a crucial tool in Architectural education at Manchester. From its earliest configuration, the Manchester School of Architecture has called on models as part of student submissions and presentations.
Why is this? What do models give to the study of Architecture and why has their use continues to endure despite the fast paced changes in the industry?
In B.15:45, we look at the wide range of work produced and give an insight into the application of each piece in the design process since the establishment of the B.15 workshop at The University of Manchester in 1970.
A documentary video was produced alongside the collection, which includes contributions from current and former staff and students and emphasizes the contemporary importance of creating physical models despite and alongside the advances in digital modelling.
B.15:45 is located on the first floor of the Humanities Bridgeford Street Building at The University of Manchester.
It is free to attend and open to visitors 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday throughout 2014 and 2015. confirmedHigher Education2014-09-012015-12-312014-09-012015-12-312014-09-012015-12-31Jim Backhousejim.backhouse@manchester.ac.ukr10u-i4zq7u1q-pllx5parchitecture-model-makingarchitecture modeld10v-i4zq7u1t-5dq3h4180180More Information is available on the workshop blog1st FloorHumanities Bridgeford StreetManchesterUnited KingdomGBGBRref:T1265POINT(53.466465 -2.236522)15Freeeven:y2-iedxms5j-f99tx9Social theories of learningManchester Institute of Education - Research Matters - Autumn 2015 SeriesconfirmedHigher Education2015-09-3011:00:002015-09-3013:00:002015-09-3012:00:002015-09-3014:00:002015-09-3012:00:002015-09-3014:00:00Neil Humphreyneil.humphrey@manchester.ac.ukC3.19/20Ellen Wilkinson BuildingManchesterUnited KingdomGBGBRref:T1265POINT(53.463352 -2.232757)15FreeErica Burman, Yvette Solomon and Julian Williamseven:ve-i5z9d5u7-mf9hyn"Thinking with Hannah Arendt and the Politics of Education"Sarah Fielden seminar series by Manchester Institute of Education celebrating excellence in educational research
